Book Talk Tuesday

Its Book Talk Tuesday....welllllll actually.... it is Book Talk Thursday!

I am joining an awesome linky over at Mrs. Jump's Class and its all about books! As a teacher and life long reader I am SOOOOOOO excited about this linky. Like so excited as soon as I saw it I got out my newest addition to my library and started snapping pictures! I may have gone a little wayyyy overboard with the pictures, but every page was cute, y'all. EVERY PAGE!

My new favorite book:

You can tell from the cover that this book is gonna be waaaaay cute.

Here is the excerpt of the story. Please ignore the reflection of my hands! Like I said I was so excited about this linky, I started taking pictures immediately!

The story starts with 5 friends that believe there must be something out there that is more than what they are used to, there world is full of only numbers. They set out to find or create something new. At first they had trouble, but then they made something special: the letter A!

These new letters make everything in their world brighter and more beautiful!

Their world was now full of color and even better.... words! The friends now got names instead of just a number!

I got this book at Barnes and Noble last week. They were running a special that if you bought one children's book, you got this one 1/2 off! It is definitely worth the buy. I am so excited to read this one with the kiddos. The book is full of fun pictures and large text. It will be a great read during the first week or two of school to talk about the difference between letters and numbers and what we use them for.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Hey Y'all!

Linking up here with Covered in Glitter and Glue for what I am loving Wednesday. I have been going crazy on Pinterest ( like always!!)  and want to share a couple of great things I SO want to do for my room! There are so many great ideas out there!

This is one of my faves and it is a freebie! You can find it here. I can't wait to print these and put them in my writing center for Daily 5 word work!

I thought this idea was pretty amazing too! Putting dice in small containers for the kids to roll instead of having dice rolling all over the place and getting lost. What a great idea! Something I will definitely have to try this year.

I am always looking for new things to do with the kids to practice place value. These would be neat to use with place value blocks for a math center.

Also, if you did not get a chance to stop by my store during the big sale, my back to school freebie is still up! You can find it here! It is a fun little back to school writing activity for the first week back to school!

Make sure to stop by Covered In Glitter and Glue to see what other teachers are loving this week!

Monday Made it!

Hey Everybody!

Linking up here with 4th Grade Frolics for my first Monday Made it!

Last week I made a trip to Michaels and the Dollar Store and got a few things crossed off my to do list for this school year! Check them out here! :)

My first project is my school/life planner. This year is about to be busy y'all! I have decided to go back and get my Masters started, so just like my kiddos I will be going back to school on August 25th. Ahhhh! I am half excited and half dreading all of the work on top of teaching! I also want to keep up with blogging and also make sure I have plenty of time to spend with my boyfriend and family! Good thing we teachers are great at Multitasking, right??? So here is a sneak peek of the planner I decorated. I  am excited about it! I also included a sneak peek of my week! Summer School starts tomorrow! :)

I also worked on my birthday gifts for the kiddos this year. Last year, I was terrible and did not do anything too special for the kids birthdays other than singing to them and letting them wear a huge pin that said "It's my birthday!" for the day. So I decided this year that was one area I needed to step it up! I went to the Dollar Tree for some inspiration and I am really excited with what I found! My lovely Instagram friends have really made me fall in love with neon colors and black right now so that was the theme I decided on! I managed to make a birthday treat for all my kiddos for only 9$! That is about .36 cents a kid! Can't beat that! After I took this picture, I also found packs of 12 glow sticks at Michaels for $1! So i added them as well ( I already included that in the 9$ in case you are wondering!) I can't wait to celebrate birthdays this year!!!

Blame it on first year teacher indecisiveness, but last year I could just not find a way to record behavior that I really liked! My school uses the color system for pulling a card/moving a clip. At the start of the year, I used a pocket chart and the kids had to "pull a card". I found that I just did not have a good place to put the pocket chart, so after Winter Break I changed it to a clip system. I glued and laminated 5 pieces of construction paper together and put the student's number on a clothes pin. I liked this better, but it was still so large and basically impossible to take with us to specials. Therefore this year I decided to go with a behavior wheel! I found these little mini clothes pins at Michaels and dressed them up with my washi tape! I like that the mini clothes pins won't weigh down my wheel when I hang it in the room. The kids will easily be able to get it down and move their clip if necessary. Hoping this method works for me!!

My Made it #4 was made to celebrate the TpT Back to School Sale!!!!!!
Here is a little teaser! Stop by my store to download it and follow my TpT page! My other products will be on sale as well!

Happy Monday and Happy TpT shopping!!!

B2S: A few of my favorite things!

Hey Y'all!

I JUST LOVE LINKY PARTIES! They are so fun. Today I am linking up with Creativity to the Core for a back to school linky party! I am so excited about this one because I just went back to school shopping yesterday!!! Woot Woot! :)

#1 Back to School: Clothes
I found so many amazing deals this weekend! The Limited was 50% off their entire store! It is still going on today if you are headed that way! I could not pass it up!  I found this cute little dress at The Loft. The Loft has one of my all time favorite lines ever: Lou and Grey. It's sometimes a  little pricey for me, but The Loft offers a teacher discount of 15%! So I try to buy a piece whenever I can. I also found a neat little prize in the sale section at Anthropologie! I was so excited!! :) My shopping trip I blogged about yesterday was obviously a success ;)

#2 Back to School: Books

As a life long reader, buying books for my classroom is like my kryptonite! I can not help but pick at least one up when I go to the book store. I could spend hours in the Children's book section! I am sure most of y'all are the same. My new favorite children's book is called "The Numberlys" it is about a world full of only numbers. One day 5 numbers decide there has to be more to life and begin to create the alphabet! The pictures start out in black and white and then slowly transform in to color. The font is really big and fun. It is soooooooo cute!!! And who doesn't love Fly Guy?? He is one of my favorites :)

#3 Back to School: Lakeshore Deals :)
I made my first ever trip to a LakeShore store yesterday. They had a lot of sweet deals for members of the LakeShore Teacher's Club. I came out with three bags (one is still in my car to take to school ;) ) and one exhausted boyfriend! I can't wait to put all my goodies to use in my room this year!

#4 Back to School: Container Store
I am not sure how I NEVER set foot in to one of these stores before, but let me tell you it is a little slice of Heaven. HOLY MOLY! I can't wait to go back! I managed to make it out contain myself without buying any containers for my room ( I really can not tell you how)! I signed up for the teacher card and will definitely be shopping online when the need arises! I love containers, it is another one of my huge teacher obsessions! You can never have too many.... right??

#5 Back to School: Ikea Find
I have already blogged about this, Instagrammed it, and now I am blogging about it again! I am doing the Daily 5 for the the first time this year and these book boxes from Ikea will be a lifesaver! I could not believe my luck when I found them online! I am anxiously awaiting their arrival. Did I mention they were only $1.49 for 5???

I can't wait to see everyone else's back to school favorites! Just wanted to give y'all a quick reminder about the TpT back to school sale ( August 4-5) as well! Please check out my products in my TpT Store, everything will be on sale! Tomorrow I will be sharing a new freebie to celebrate back to school as well.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Sarah :)

[fiveforfriday2_thumb%255B3%255D%255B4%255D.jpg]

Hey Everybody! New blogger here! I decided to join you for my first ever linky party! I am excited to share my five for friday with you :)
[Divider%25201%255B5%255D.png]

This week I did a little more back to school shopping ( because who am I kidding? I have been back to school shopping since June!) I found some really great items at Dollar Tree and even Staples. I am SOOOO excited to use the little chalkboards I found at Dollar Tree in my Writing Center!

How cute are these cheetah clipboards, too? They were only 3$ each! The set of three baskets were only .50 cents and the magnets were a dollar! That was my biggest steal and deal of the night!
[Divider%25202%255B5%255D.png]

This week I worked on updating and creating a word family center activity! This was by far my favorite activity of the week! I used these cute little mint tins and chipboard letters to make the ultimate, easy to store word family activity! I am so excited to use them this year. Check out my earlier blog post this week to see how I made them!

[Divider%25203%255B5%255D.png]

I posted just yesterday about my new Listening Center for this upcoming year. I am so excited to use it, y'all! I did not have the chance to have one my first year of teaching, so I am thrilled I was able to make one this year. I LOVE the bags I created. I might be obsessed with the whole thing! Along with creating my center, I also created 20 response sheets to be used to check comprehension. They can be found in my TpT Store!

P.S. if you are looking for CD players, I found these Cars CD players at Walmart for only 12.50!

My love for obsession with washi tape has only grown. Check out my new and improved clipboards I got from a teacher friend. Isn't this tape just the cutest???

This weekend I have two goals, well actually three, one is to work on my teacher planner! I have been so inspired by the ones I see on Instagram. THEY ARE AWESOME. Second, is to finish my birthday gifts for the kids. Here is a little sneak peek of some of the materials I will be using to make the kids a little bday treat!  I will give you another hint! I am OBSESSED with black and neon right now. I think this is another obsession I picked up from all of my great Instagram friends!

Goal #3, you ask? I am headed to Columbus with my family to SHOP TIL WE DROP for back to school clothing. Yikes! It could be bad. My wallet is starting to hurt already.

Thanks so much to DoodleBugs for hosting the Five for Friday! Head back to her blog to see the others. I am so excited to start checking out the other blogs today, myself!

Have a super duper weekend!

Sarah :)
